Yarrow is called also Milfoil. The oil is obtained by steam distillation from leaves and flowering tops. Dark blue (Blue Yarrow from Bulgaria) or green (Green Yarrow from USA) oil with sweet herbaceous and camphoraceous odour. It becomes blue during the distillation process. Green Yarrow from the USA has a great grassy penetrating herbal character. The aroma is certainly different from Bulgarian material which is sweeter and has a higher chamazulene content.Thr green variety has interesting chemistry with significant percentages of trans beta farnesene and germacrene D.

Main Components: pinenes, sabinene, camphor, cineole.
Actions*: antiseptic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic, expectorant, digestive.
Applications*: arthritis, rheumatism, varicose veins, haemorrhoids, wounds, eczema, allergic skin reactions, urinary and vaginal infections, anger and other emotional problems.
